Silicon Beach Talent, LACI Host Panel on Recruiting to Help Secure Funding

We are excited to host our panel tonight “Recruiting Strategies to Help You Reach Your Startup Funding Goals” at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) moderated by Kara Dake, VP of Growth, CleverTap. Panelists include Frank Grant, Managing Director, Interstate Venture Capital, Carmen Palafox, Partner in the Early Stage VC + Accelerator Make in LA and Angel Investor, Laurie Luh, Executive HR Consultant and LACI Specialist in Residence, my Co-Founder Max Brown, and myself.

Committed to recruiting for cleantech

Cleantech is one of our company passions. Creating products and services that support a sustainable future requires a significant commitment of capital, resources, time, and talent. LACI is a tangible commitment to developing a sustainable tech ecosystem in Los Angeles. The nonprofit also enjoys a strong partnership with UCLA, USC, Caltech and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which attracts high caliber talent.

Founders first

As more entrepreneurs follow their inspiration in cleantech and vy for a limited amount of capital, the landscape becomes increasingly competitive. It is common knowledge that founders who know how to use capital strategically for recruiting the right people to accelerate prototyping or a minimum viable product are in a better position to complete a financing round. But figuring out how to hire the right team can be a bit trickier. In our experience, we see patterns of avoidable mistakes that first time founders often make, and we are happy to share that wisdom with today’s current founders of tomorrow’s Fortune 500 cleantech companies.

Topics will include: what financiers want to see in an executive team when investing, building a strategic recruiting plan with the goal of funding in mind, and Bootstrapping as a strategy vs. as a lifestyle. Our panel begins at 6:00pm at LACI in Downtown Los Angeles. RSVP here.
